Learning and Achievement

Our teachers know their students and work with them to help them realise their potential as learners. Our focus on authentic learning and authentic assessment ensures that we challenge our students to grow in their learning and achieve their personal best.

Throughout our community of Sydney Catholic schools, we have shown high performance of our students in measures such as NAPLAN and the HSC.

The Naplan data results have shown over the years that Our Lady of Mercy Catholic College (OLMC) Burraneer does very well in comparison to the state. This is an ongoing pattern with particular success in reading and writing. These skills carry over into senior school where a significant number of OLMC girls,  consistently receive an ATAR of over 90.

In excess of 10,000 short stories and poems were submitted from students throughout Australia, participating in the Write4fun writing competition. Special congratulations to Jessica Thorncraft (Year 7) who was placed in the top 5% of all competition entrants, Australia wide, and was awarded ‘Excellence in Writing’ for her submission, titled ‘Ghost.’
